Fencer Day 2015

Fencer Day is a new tradition in St. Petersburg cultural life, born in 2005 by initiative of Saint Petersburg Fencing Club to commemorate the 290th year of fencing in St. Petersburg.

The celebration of Fencer Day is being celebrated annually,
on Sunday just a day before the birthday of the city. This year it will take place on 24 may.

It takes place in St.Peter and Pau’ls Fortress, harmonically combining the place where the city was engendered and the “science of rapier”, which was developed in St. Petersburg by Peter The Great’s decree.

Science of rapier was teached at Naval Academy of Russia since 1715.

This year Fencer Day welcomes a participant from Spain - Eugenio Garcia-Salmones, representative of IFHEMA.

Saint Petersburg Fencing Club is a open organization which doesn’t have strong membership rules and fees.

Anyone who wants to take lessons or already has experience in fencing can become a member of our club. If you are interested in history of fencing and “art of defence”, keen on arm blanche and appreciate the beauty of fencing science, love the sound of clinking blades and understand imperishable value of fencing art – this is the right place to come.

The management of the clubs activity consists of the those people who founded the club, supported the idea of its development, who was there from the very beginning – the members of the Club.
Instead of membership cards every member of Club has a right to order business card with the sign and slogan.

For those who take part in the Clubs activity there is only one right definition - our associates.
